A beautiful stoneware mug inspired with the Japanese hand-forming technique called Kurinuki which involves the hollowing out of solid clay form by carving. The mug has a flat handle and a glazed texture reminiscent of sand.

Each mug is hand-built and hand-carved creating a unique floral pattern. Please note, as these are handmade, they are all individually unique and will vary in shape and glaze application. There may be differences compared to the item shown in the photo.

I will send the mug(s) within 1-4 working days after payment.

Mugs are made from german stoneware clay and high fired to 1240°C which makes them non-porous, strong and durable for the regular use. Small imperfections are welcomed addition to my work. The glaze is applied by hands so small spots, drips etc may be present, please enjoy the handmade quality!

Care information
Can be cleaned in the dishwasher. But I recommend washing handmade ceramics by hand.
Not tested in a microwave, because we deserve fresh and healthy food :)
Lead and cadmium free.

Kurinuki mugs are hand-carved, using technique much slower and intimate than mass-throwing on a pottery wheel. I believe feeling deeply connected to the objects around us often comes from a connection to the maker, and the making act itself. Each mug hold evidence of the human hand and I hope these preserved histories allow you to connect with its deeply human, handmade origin.
